TATIP Work

Liana has been interning at PS 84 in Brooklyn with CWP Teaching Artists Felipe Galindo and Molly Goldman. She has also completed and additional internship track at Wingspan Arts

“TATIP has been an amazing experience for me.  When I first started, I taught mommy and me classes and private vocal lessons, but I wanted to be able to expand my horizons and be able to work with children and adults of all ages in a group setting.  I have been given the tools to make this happen.  We dived into multiple intelligences, social justice, metacognition and so much more.  I was able to gain valuable experience interning with CWP at P.S. 84 in Williamsburg by teaching artist gurus Felipe Galindo and Molly Goldman.  I also opted for an afterschool internship, and have been working with the incredible team at Wingspan Arts.  I really believe the best way to learn is to be hands on and TATIP allowed me to get my hands dirty.  Due to my experience with TATIP, I am now teaching music at a parochial school in NYC.”

 Most Memorable TATIP Moment

“My most memorable TATIP moment was watching the TED talk video with Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. She spoke on the danger of a single story and it resonated with me so much. I realized how I grew up hearing single stories of people from different cultures and even more importantly how I only knew the single story of my own African and Latino background. It is so important to expose various literary and artistic resources to the people you teach.”
