National Dance Institute

Teaching Artist Project staff facilitated a workshop with the National Dance Institute (NDI) in Harlem, NYC. This two-hour professional development seminar with the dancers of NDI focused on blending dance and poetry with the goal to teach dance to students of multiple intelligences.

Sarah Lawrence College

Teaching Artist Project staff created a special training for the teachers in Sarah Lawrence College’s Child Development Institute that focused on gender identity training.
“The workshop really opened my eyes toward gender bias in the classroom and the role it plays in our children’s lives. It was a very informative workshop and I truly appreciated it!”

Memphis Music Initiative

During this year’s Summer Institute, in addition to wonderful participants from all over the country, Community-Word Project (CWP) had the pleasure to host staff members from the Memphis Music Initiative (MMI). Five staff members traveled all the way from Tennessee to not only partake in the rich social justice training provided during Summer Institute, but to explore how that work could impact their organization directly with an additional customized training day.

Armed Services Arts Partnership

Teaching Artist Project facilitators consulted with the Armed Services Arts Partnership (ASAP) staff to create and facilitate a workshop for novice and advanced Teaching Artists. The training focused on trauma -informed teaching techniques, in order to meet the needs of the veteran population that ASAP serves.
“TAP Staff made a great effort to understand our organization’s needs without creating additional work for our staff. Their personal investment in our initiative’s growth and development was invaluable.”

Binghamton University

Teaching Artist Project staff are available for virtual workshops across the country. In the fall of 2020, TAP staff created a series of custom workshops for the creative writing teachers of Binghamton University.
“I found the discussions and group work to be most helpful, exploring the ways we bring values into the classroom and how activism can be incorporated into art making.”
