Liza Miller, Theatre Artist and Musician
Liza Miller is an actor, singer, performer and Teaching Artist in NYC. Liza is thrilled to be an Advanced TATIP this 2015-2016 school year, having been a part of the Summer Institute 4.0 in 2014. As a Teaching Artist, Liza has facilitated theater and music classes for ages 2-18 in various arts programs and partnerships. Currently she is in residencies with ArtsConnection, Opening Act, and the New Group Theatre Company. Additionally, Liza teaches private singing and acting lessons for adults.
She most recently was seen Off-Broadway in the Drama Desk Nominated musical The Golden Bride with The National Yiddish Theater Folksbiene. Other Credits include: Rachelin Warsaw, the musical (Naples & Ft. Meyers, FL) & (NYMF), Maria in Twelfth Night (The Schoolhouse Theatre, NY), Lucy Hale in Booth! The Musical (Skirball Center for Performing Arts), The Acid Queen in The Who’s Tommy (Debaun Center for Performing Arts) Flim Flam (York Theatre), Chicago (Weathervane Repertory Theatre), Jacques Brel (Provincetown Playhouse), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Chicago Theater), Film: Mr. Blue Sky. TV: “We the People”(NBC). She received her Bachelor of Music – Vocal Performance in Music Theatre from NYU, and a Master’s in Classical Acting from LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Performing Arts).
TATIP Work
Liza is an Advanced Trainee and is completeing her internship with CWP Teaching Artist T. Scott Lilly and Javan Howard at PS279 in the Bronx in a 3rd Grade classroom working with poetry, theatre and music.
Most Memorable TATIP Moment
“In our first TATIP training session we were asked to create something with given materials that expressed ourselves as artists and teaching artists. Materials were paper, pens, markers, hand instruments, string, tape, all types of craft supplies, and of course our voices and bodies. As we all furiously began to create I looked around the room at a group of artists willing to ‘jump’. As we finished and returned to our circle I thought we were all going to present our work to each other, but we were asked to share with the person next to us. It became this intimate sharing happening all over the room. People were reading to one another, speaking about their artwork or making music for each other. We were talking about our work and what we hoped to do with our artistry in teaching. I felt like we were all sharing with each other simultaneously, and I felt a strong connection to my fellow teaching artist as we shared our stories one on one. It was satisfying being a part of this open and giving group and knowing that we were just beginning our journey together.”
