CWP second graders at P.S./M.S. 279 Captain Manuel Rivera Jr. School in the Bronx have been buzzing since last spring. Eight murals the students made with the guidance of their Teaching Artist Valerie Hallier are ready to share with our community.
The murals are part of A Buzzing in the Bronx, the students’ anthology of writing and visual artwork around the theme of community and citizenship. Their ideas about community, identity, togetherness, empathy, heroism, and service to others are threaded throughout these lively, colorful, and touching murals.
