Mariana likes exploring issues of cultural exchange, both in her artistic practice and in the classroom.

TAP Work:

“Through TAP I had the opportunity to intern at PS 171 in Astoria, Queens. It was a Poetry and Theatre class for 2nd and 3rd grade. I also completed an additional internship track at an after-school Playwriting and Performance class with Wingspan Arts. While still in training, I was hired by Marquis Studios as a Teaching Assistant.”

Most Memorable TAP Moment:

“The workshop that took place at the Langston Hughes House. Just being able to take class in such a wonderful space was very special. I also loved the sample lesson we had that morning, which involved using movement and interacting with the house itself. I am partial to movement-based theatre and I would love to be able to create that kind of explorative, detailed, poetic and creative experience for my own students one day.”
