Artist Perri Salka works with acrylic-based ink, water and heat, to create experimental, methodical and meditational works on Yupo paper in an attempt to clarify inks’ intrinsic properties and purpose as a medium.
Working on Yupo paper – a sleek, non-absorbent surface – Salka is able to capture and preserve ink in its most vulnerable and honest state, as the vibrancy of the ink is never compromised. Her latest body of work, an ongoing series titled, Landing, employs new drying techniques that inject a visceral, scientific element into the final product ; alluding to the idea of nature versus the manufactured / terrestrial versus extraterrestrial. www.perrisalka.com
