Born in Auckland, New Zealand, Megan Christiansen (she/her) is an interdisciplinary visual artist and educator working in experimental video installation, photography, and performance. Her practice interrogates the performance of gender, sexuality, and race in media and society. She obtained her Bachelor of Art and Design as a moving image and installation major at the Auckland University of Technology in 2013. Upon graduation, she relocated to New York and self-published her first artist book and accompanying solo show “Bad Boy” in downtown Manhattan in 2017. In 2021, she graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with an MFA in photography, her graduate thesis exploring the performance of race and gender within contemporary “interracial” hardcore pornography. She currently lives and works in Harlem, New York.
Most Memorable TAP Moment:
My favorite moments of TAP came from being in the classroom during my fieldwork with Jay. I usually teach university students so getting some experience teaching in a K-12 setting was awesome. The kids were such fun, so smart, and were completely inspiring!
