What if?

Sixth graders at P.S./M.S. 279, Bronx wrote poems asking the question, “What if?”

What if the the floor turned into red hot lava?
My mom would hop like a kangaroo.

What if people could come back from the dead?
My coucin would react with a yelp! like a running white cat.

What if the sea had a volcano that exploded and flooded the whole world?
My friend Jose would swim to safety like a water snake through the smell of dead fish

"Where I'm From"

Student poems and self-potraits reflecting on the questions, “What does home mean to us?” “What physical objects, smells, tastes, sounds, or images remind us of home?” “How can we celebrate our memories by expressing them through writing and art?”
