Moira-Jo Trachtenberg-Thielking

Moira is a poet, fiction writer and visual artist, who holds an MFA from the NYU Graduate Creative Writing Program. She greatly enjoys working with words, kids and other artists to create (and sometimes participate in) interdisciplinary arts programs. A favorite project was an anti-bullying Community Read of the novel Wonder (by RJ Palacio), including a staged reading and parent/student discussion. Her poetry has most recently been published in the Kyoto Journal, Tikkun Daily and Carve magazine, where she won the Premium Edition Contest in Poetry (Spring 2016 issue). She is currently participating in Writing the Walls III, an ekphrastic poetry project in response to “Between I & Thou” at the Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art, and her poems have been performed at the Emotive Fruition theater collaborative in New York City. She is also President of Executive Committee for The Katonah Poetry Series in Katonah, NY, which hosts four nationally acclaimed poets each year. She is thrilled to be a new teacher with C-WP, getting her feet wet—already soaked— with 2nd and 3rd graders at PS 171 in Astoria!
