Mayele Alognon is a visual artist and Teaching Artist based in Brooklyn, New York. A graduate of Bates College, Mayele has a bachelor’s degree in studio art and a minor in anthropology. She paints, draws, and animates exploring repetition, fragmentation, and the confusing and murky intersections of identity.
Mayele’s goals as an educator are to share the joyful challenge that is art-making with students and to help create a space where students can use paper, canvas, or any surface to visualize what a better, safer, and kinder world may look like. In addition to Community-Word Project, she works with the Center for Arts Education and Marquis Studios.
