Named a 2023 Globe Street Woman of Influence, Marjorie McCarthy is a globally-experienced marketing, communications and executive leader with a passion for collaboration and proven success building transformational integrated marketing programs that drive growth.
Marjorie recently joined ISS North America as Chief Marketing Officer. ISS is a leading, global provider of workplace, facility management and food service offerings that contribute to better business performance for clients across financial and professional services, technology, aviation, life sciences, manufacturing and healthcare.
Prior to joining ISS, Marjorie was Chief Marketing Officer and member of the global executive leadership team at Unispace Group, a global commercial interior design and construction leader operating in 25+ countries globally. After being acquired by PAG Group in 2021, under Marjorie’s leadership, Unispace Group led a successful re-brand and re-positioning from a pre-COVID single brand/product focus to a diversified Group of brands focused on multiple physical and digital products for workplace/corporate interiors, life sciences (labs, R&D, manufacturing facilities), hospitality and experiential (tech, sports & entertainment, and retail) – with clients including PayPal, Microsoft, Tata Consultancy Services, DoubleVerify, Google.
Marjorie was responsible for the strategic vision and execution of Unispace Group’s entire marketing and communications platform – including Unispace, Unispace Life Sciences, and Downstream – and leads a global team of 30+ for brand, digital, content, creative, PR and proposals across North America, Europe, India and Asia Pacific.
Prior to joining Unispace Group, Marjorie was Senior Vice President and Head of Marketing for Global Strategy Group, an industry-leading PR, communications, and research company with clients spanning companies, causes, and campaigns – including HR Block, CVS, Comcast, Citi, Pershing Square Capital Management, Planned Parenthood, No Child Hungry, and numerous Democratic candidate and issue campaigns. During her 8+ year tenure at GSG, Marjorie served as a member of the executive leadership team, and was responsible for building and scaling the company’s brand and growth-driven marketing strategy that contributed to year-over-year double digit revenue growth and GSG’s successful 2021 sale to SEC Newgate. Under her leadership, GSG was awarded “Public Affairs Agency of the Year” and won 2020 “Best Agency Marketing Program” (North America SABRE Awards).
From 2011 to 2012, Marjorie lived in New Delhi, India where she worked with McGraw-Hill Education (then publicly-traded, part of the McGraw-Hill Companies/S&P Financial) on the marketing and communications strategy for mConnect, a digital education app product for South Asian markets.
Earlier in her career, Marjorie held external relations and program management roles at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce International Division in Washington, DC, where she had the opportunity to shape business- and education-focused initiatives on global and national stages including the World Economic Forum, 2008 Democratic and Republican National Conventions, trade and business policy conferences throughout Latin America, and also contributed to the passage of several U.S. Trade Agreements including the CAFTA-DR agreement with the countries of Central America and the Dominican Republic.
Marjorie is a passionate advocate of women in leadership, creating inclusive workplaces, and in access to arts and education for all. She recently joined the board of the Community-Word Project – a New York City-based organization whose mission is to facilitate culturally responsive, multidisciplinary art programs for students, teaching artists, and communities to develop and amplify their voices and creative skills. She is currently Executive Sponsor of the ISS BRIDGE employee resource group, and was previously executive sponsor of the Women@Unispace employee resource group.
Marjorie has an MS in Global Affairs and International Business from New York University (Center for Global Affairs) where she received the Divisional Dean’s Circle Distinction Award for High Achievement, and a BA from Pomona College in Claremont, California where she was a Pomona College Scholar. Originally from Austin, Texas, Marjorie is married to Brendan McCarthy, also a CMO (Criteo, NASDAQ:CRTO) They live outside New York City in Chappaqua, New York with their two kids: Cal (10) and Cecelia (7).
