Manny Dettmann

Manny Dettmann (He/They) is a trans and queer poet, performer, and arts educator from Maine who’s taught writing to students all over the world, including in Italy, Nicaragua, and New York. He is the author of Untranslatable Honeyed Bruises and earned his MFA in Poetry from New York University, receiving support from the Kenyon Review Writers Workshops and the Sewanee Writers’ Conference. Dettmann was a 2026 Button Poetry Chapbook Contest Finalist and the winner of the 2023 Peseroff Prize in Poetry selected by Jake Skeets. Their poems have been nominated for 2025 Best of the Net and the Pushcart Prize, appearing in publications such as The Adroit Journal, Salt Hill Journal, FENCE 25th Anniversary Issue, and Hayden’s Ferry Review, among others. Manny is currently exploring drumming, sign language, and the art of fighting for joy.
