Elizabeth Argelia Leonard

Elizabeth Argelia Leonard is a writer, educator, editor and wellness facilitator. She creates and supports the creation of stories that are written with a view toward justice, community connection and healing. Elizabeth has a Masters in novel writing from City University London and a BA from NYU. She is a certified trauma-informed yoga and wellness instructor, and SEL (Social Emotional Learning) Facilitator. She has been a teaching artist for CWP for over a decade, including for the CWP 2.0 Program for which she co-designs and co-facilitates an interdisciplinary arts and tech program for NYC high school students, in partnership with a CWP visual artist and professors and grad students from NYU. She also develops writing, wellness and collaborative arts workshops in English and Spanish for children and adults throughout the U.S.

Her writing has been published by TulipTree, City Lit, and VUE Magazine, among others. She has been awarded fellowships and residencies from Tyrone Guthrie Centre in Ireland, the Atlantic Center for the Arts in Florida, and Martha’s Vineyard Creative Writing Institute. She was the Co-Founder and Editor of Sixpenny Magazine, a literary magazine of illustrated short stories which was highlighted in LitHub and Brooklyn Book Festival.
