Caitlin Potratz Metcalf

Caitlin Potratz Metcalf is a Senior Associate in the TMT and Data Solutions practice at Linklaters LLP.  She advises fintech, tech and telecom companies and financial institutions on the latest cybersecurity and privacy issues that arise with using innovative tech and helps companies with their global regulatory compliance.  She also counsels clients on cyber preparedness and crisis management in the event of a cyber incident, including handling sensitive investigations, working with forensic experts on containment and remediation efforts, and responding to regulatory inquiries, enforcement actions and litigation.  Caitlin has significant experience advising clients in Latin America and Spain and is proficient in Spanish.

She prioritizes pro bono work, and as amicus curiae counsel, represented the American Jewish Committee (AJC) before the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in cases involving important constitutional issues, such as the protection of religious freedom and limits on Presidential power.  The Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice recognized Caitlin for her excellence in public service working with the non-profit, Transparency International, to combat corruption.

Her background is in litigation and white collar defense, where she advised clients on internal and government investigations, including representing the Inter-American Development Bank in its anti-corruption investigation, debarment and $50 million settlement with Odebrecht following Operation Car Wash.

In her early career, Caitlin clerked for the Honorable Cecilia M. Altonaga, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.  She also worked at the Public International Law & Policy Group on projects related to war crimes prosecutions in Uganda, minority rights in Tanzania, and constitutional reform in Kosovo, where she served as an independent observer for the 2010 national elections.  She also worked on Capitol Hill as fellow with non-partisan thinktank, The Henry L. Stimson.  Caitlin received her A.B. from Dartmouth College and her JD/MA from American University.  She lives in San Antonio, Texas and enjoys running and triathlons.
