Johnson has taught creative writing workshops at Writers & Books in the city of Rochester for over 25 years. Her workshops: Writing and Photography, Riding and Writing, Poetry n Motion, Pictures, Poses and People, Picture This, &. Getting Comfortable with Being Uncomfortable: Culturally Relevant Teaching. Johnson prides herself in creating and employing culturally responsive pedagogy, curricula and practices that embrace the dynamic mix of race, ethnicity, class, gender, region, religion, and family makeup that contributes to the cultural identity of each person. As a literacy specialist, she encourages men, women, teens and children to become more conscious of self by exploring the past, the present and the future through the art of reading, writing, technology and verbal communication. Johnson captivates her audiences by articulating and manipulating language and lyrics, making them her very own.
