Jack Langerak

Jack Langerak is an Arts-in-Education (AIE) consultant providing leadership to a broad range of particulars including: project design, strategic planning, assessment and evaluation, funding, grant-writing, and professional development. A retired English and Theatre teacher, he led Penfield High School’s award-winning drama program for twenty-eight years. Upon retirement from teaching Jack became the Associate Director of Young Audiences of Rochester, serving in that capacity for four years. His work as an independent consultant followed and continues to this day. He is the recipient of the Excellence in the Teaching of Drama Award given by the NYS English Council, the Citibank Teacher of the Year Award, the Smithsonian Exhibition Award for Education, and is a member of the NYS Academy for Teaching and Learning. In 1992 he was selected by the Rockefeller Brothers Fund as one of thirty-one of the most “Outstanding Arts Educators” in the country. Jack is a past President of the Board of Partners for Arts Education, and served as a long-time member of the Board of the NYS Alliance for Arts Education. He is a trained Strategic Foundation Building Retreat Facilitator for the NYS Council on the Arts (NYSCA) and has served multiple terms on the NYSCA AIE and Theatre Panels. For the past ten years he has been a member of the board of BOA Editions, the Rochester based not-for-profit Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award-winning publisher. He currently serves as its Board Chair.
