Monica was born and raised in Brooklyn. She received her BFA from the SUNY Purchase Acting Conservatory, where she was honored with the “best actress” award. She also attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts. After a few years out in Los Angeles, she realized her love for teaching while volunteering with The Unusual Suspects Theater Company. She moved back to the northeast to start her family, and is a mom to her beautiful son, Harry.

TAP Work:

Although I’ve only worked with TAP for a brief time,  it has been inspiring for me on so many levels. I’ve been able to connect with artists virtually (as a new mom, connecting with adults has been great, too!) and have had difficult but important conversations regarding social justice. I’ve loved spending this time tapping into what and who inspires me as an artist. Being in the classroom for my fieldwork was jarring at first because I haven’t physically been in a classroom since the pandemic began, but I really enjoyed watching Scott and Elizabeth teach. I’ve had lots of inspiring conversations with Gary DeVirgillio around the new landscape as a teaching artist. I’m looking forward to becoming more a part of the TAP community.

Most Memorable TAP Moment:

“Put it in the resource Goblin.”
