Imani (they/he) is a neurodivergent artist, writer, and healer from the South Side of Chicago, now based in Harlem. Imani earned degrees in African American Studies and Visual Arts, Sculpture from Princeton University in 2018. They earned their master’s in English & Comparative Literature at Columbia University in 2020. They engage drawing, painting, and mixed media to reveal how black trans* embodiment is a form of fluid, nebulous knowledge production. Yoga (anapanasati, vipassana, asana) and Reiki are central to their practice. Imani published writing in Aperture, The Sole Adventurer, Black Minds Mag, and Recess’ Critical Writing Program. Imani had solo/group shows at Princeton University, Broodthaers Society of America, and the Arts Students League of New York.
