Gaosong V. Heu is a Hmong American performance artist, published writer, arts administrator, arts educator and scholar originally from Saint Paul, MN. She has always looked to writing as a means of self-expression. Whether it has been spoken word, poetry or storytelling, all of these experiences have supported her career as an emerging playwright within the Twin Cities. Gaosong submitted her first full-length play titled “Seeing Beyond the Red Veil” for the 2015 Minnesota History Theater’s Raw Stages Festival and was 1 of the 10 finalists among hundreds of applicants. She looks forward to continuing writing and sharing stories that look to problematize notions of truth and empower individuals to be active agents that transform lives. Gaosong is the first Hmong teaching artist to have ever worked with Classical Minnesota Public Radio for their "Class Notes Artist Residency" in the 2015-2016 school year. She is grateful to continuously have opportunities to work with companies and organizations that continue to support performing arts education for children throughout the state of Minnesota. Gaosong graduated with her B.A in Theater Arts from the University of Minnesota and is currently pursuing her MA in Arts Administration from Columbia University's, Teacher's College in New York City.
