Sari Nordman, Dancer

Sari Nordman is a New York -based, freelance dancer-choreographer. She has presented her work for several theaters and festivals in the US and in her native Finland. She has enjoyed artist residencies at Atlantic Center for the Arts, Bearnstow, Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Fantasy Generator at Hollins University, Tofte Lake Center (through the Jerome Foundation) in the US, Loimaan Taidetalo and Zodiak Z Free in Finland, and Solo works @ 77 in Greece.

She has worked as a dancer with Dean Moss on several of his projects since 2009. She holds an M.F.A. (Master of Fine Arts) degree from New York University’s Tisch Dance Department. Most recently she has received funding from American Scandinavian Society and Finlandia Foundation National to support her art making in the US.

"I have taught dance in NYC public schools since 2007. I have taught students of varied abilities, backgrounds and ages in all five boroughs. More recently I have also taught yoga. I currently work with Marquis Studios, ArtsConnection, Brooklyn Arts Council and New York Finnish School. In my teaching I consider how I can help my students achieve those qualities (and what those qualities are) that can help them succeed in their lives and aspirations."

TATIP Work:

"At TATIP I participated in the advance track training. I interned at PS 84 with CWP Teaching Artists Phyllis Capello and Felipe Galindo as mentors."

Most memorable TATIP moment:

"I feel that all TATIP teachers genuinely want to create and provide community for the student teachers in this training. That is a welcomed experience in this challenging field. This training has helped me layer my teaching with more meaning and purpose while considering simplicity. I enjoyed the several additional panels and workshops that I participated in."
