Anna Zastrow, Theatre Artist

Anna Zastrow is an actor, teacher and director specializing in physical theater approaches.  In recent years she has turned her focus to using the theater arts for social and humanitarian outreach.

Anna is actively involved with Bond Street Theatre as a performer, teacher, director and project manager and has worked with them on projects in Afghanistan, Myanmar and Haiti. Most recently she launched a drama program in the women’s prison in Herat, Afghanistan. She has also joined Clowns Without Borders on expeditions in Haiti and Indonesia and created a three-month project in Thailand and Cambodia to provide creative arts workshops to street-working children, victims of trafficking and other youth in crisis.

Anna’s Teaching Artist experience in New York City includes teaching drama, creative movement, clowning and circus in after school programs, summer camps and in-school residencies through Creative Arts Laboratory/Columbia University, Hospital Audiences, Neighborhood Music & Arts, Manhattan Youth, GymStars and others.  

She has provided physical theater training for professional conservatories and theater ensembles, and directed or provided directorial consulting for multiple productions. As a performer she has numerous contemporary and classical theater credits in the United States and internationally. 

Anna is a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York and Ecole Internationale de Theatre Jacques Lecoq in Paris. She received a Bachelor of Science from The New School, where she studied psychology, culture and creative arts therapy. 

TATIP Work

Anna Zastrow is an Advanced Trainee in TATIP. She did an internship at PS 279 observing CWP Mentor Teaching Artists T. Scott Lilly and Mary Cinadr and worked with 2nd graders on drama and poetry. Anna is participating in the TATIP program to further develop her skills as a Teaching Artist, especially as it applies to arts-in-education within the NYC school system.
