Jacqueline Raymond, Theatre Artist

Originally from Saratoga Springs, NY Jacqueline holds a BFA in Theatre Performance from University at Buffalo where she studied under the guidance of academically acclaimed and Tony nominated teaching faculty; and studied theatre abroad in Sinaia, Romania as part of the ITI-UNESCO International Theatre Festival. After graduation, Jacqueline moved to New York City to further study Meisner technique The Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre, The Deborah Hedwall Studio, and improv at UCB. While maintaining her career as a working actress, she discovered her passion for teaching young people the craft and helping them find their artistic voices through theatre and performance. She is also co-founder of The Radium Girls Productions. TRG produces plays written by female playwrights and brings youth outreach workshops to after school and in school programs that focus on championing strong women and girls in the community.

TATIP Work

Jacqueline is so thankful to have found TATIP. She has worked as a theatre artist in residence with a 3rd grade class at Juan Pablo Duarte in Washington Heights. Her mentors are Teaching Artists Elizabeth Lenard (writing) and Sheldon Best (theatre arts). Having only worked in an after school setting previously, Jacqueline has learned so much being part of the classroom community at a public school. Program directors Patti Chilsen and Renée Watson have been generous, encouraging, and beyond supportive in this amazing learning process. TATIP has given her the skills to be an effective Teaching Artist in any capacity in or out of the classroom.

Most Memorable TATIP Moment

"I've loved the seminar workshops on all the different teaching topics possible. My favorite may have been Teaching for Social Justice with Renée and Patti. I would take that workshop over and over again it is so informative, creative, and pummels you into an awareness you didn't have before."
