"I am a lighting designer for theatre and dance and most recently television. For TATIP I interned in a third grade classroom at PS 84 in Williamsburg with Molly Goldman and Felipe Galindo. This residency was a poetry and mural residency, with a focus on metaphors and similes. The end goal was the creation of a community poem and a mural that illustrated the poem. As the intern, I was given the opportunity to lead a lesson and did mine on how light is used in art, both paintings and poetry. I used examples from old Dutch masters and a poem by Pablo Neruda that is full of metaphors and similes involving light."
Most Memorable TATIP Moment
"My most memorable TATIP moment was the National Dance Institute Seminar. The Teaching Artists we worked with were incredibly enthusiastic and infected the class with their energy. I thoroughly enjoyed being part of a class that used non vocal artistic expression and with Teaching Artists who created a safe space for me to 'volunteer' to perform as a duo in front of the class."
