Shereen Macklin, Theatre Artist

Shereen was born and raised in New York City. With her mother being from Jamaica, WI and father from the “Boogie-Down” Bronx, she grew up in a household of what she calls “Caribbean Soul”, where the music played around the house ranged from Bob Marley and Beres Hammond to James Brown, Marvin Gaye and Public Enemy. This eclectic environment formed her passion for art and music. She began to study dance and piano at the age of 9. At Brooklyn Technical H.S, she discovered a love for the theatre! Though she had natural talent, she was encouraged by family to focus on math and science. She went on to study chemical engineering and chemistry at North Carolina A&T State University. During her matriculation there, she couldn’t quiet that voice that kept calling her to the stage. She was ecstatic to make her theatrical debut in the musical, Eubie! Some of her favorite roles include Deena in Dreamgirls and Mayme in Intimate Apparel

She went on to receive her Masters of Fine Arts in Acting from the Actors Studio Drama School at Pace University. Upon graduating, she starred in the world premiere of Rip.Tied. at freeFall Theatre in St. Petersburg, FL.

After a world tour performing in Legally Blonde the Musical for Norwegian Cruise Line, you can find her in numerous staged readings around NYC, in her recurring role in a new SAG web-series, Adventures of a Merch Girl and teaching a classroom full of Kindergarteners!

TATIP Work

"I am currently an Advanced Level Trainee in TATIP. I have completed my in-school residency at P.S 316 with CWP Teaching Artists Max Albee and Katie Issel Pitre. I have learned many practical skills regarding arts integration, classroom management, lesson preparation and teaching partnership that I enjoy sharing with my students everyday! This program is providing me with a wealth of knowledge that I'm excited to continue putting into practice."
