Carly McCollow, Theatre Artist
Carly McCollow has been a teaching artist in New York City since 2009. She has worked extensively with the International High Schools: Brooklyn, Flushing, and Union Square. Carly has taught theater with Ping Chong & Company, Arts for All, and Theater Mitu. Carly is a Lead Coach with The Moth facilitating storytelling workshops. With the Healing Arts Initiative, Carly taught a digital photography workshop with seniors at the Jewish Home and Lifecare. Carly teaches broadly in theater (performance, lighting design, storytelling) but specializes in documentary theater and autobiographical storytelling. Carly is currently enrolled in Community Word Project’s Teaching Artist Training and Internship Program to further develop her skills as a teaching artist. Carly is currently enrolled at the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College pursuing an MSW and is a graduate of NYU Tisch School of the Art’s BFA program in theater. Tisch School of the Arts awarded Carly the Community Connection Award for her work as a teaching artist at Brooklyn International High School and her thesis project that incorporated these students and their stories. Carly McCollow is an Advanced Trainee in TATIP. Her internship was done at The Young Women's Leadership School of Queens in a 9th grade classroom. She observed a CWP Poetry Teaching Artist collaborating with a Tribeca Film Institute Teaching Artist. Carly is participating in the TATIP program to develop her skills as a teaching artist and expand her teaching to apply to more learning styles.
