These murals were created by children ages 6-15 from the diverse communities of New York City's boroughs. They are the culminating works of year-long Community-Word residencies where young people learned how to give voice to themselves and their community through poetry, performance, and the visual arts.

CWP students design and paint their own mural. Each mural is inspired by a "Community~Poem," a collaborative poem that was written by the entire class.  The murals give New York City youth the opportunity to engage their peers, their school, and their families in a colorful dialogue of young people's hopes and fears for themselves and their community.
